Taverns could keep a perpetual stew going for years on end, they just keep throwing in new ingredients each day. Because everything is kept hot, bacteria can't thrive and the oldest meat and veggies just break down and dissolve into the broth.
There's probably something wrong with it. You just haven't thought it through.
