I like in Elder Scrolls with the concept of Mantling. Basically, if you walk like a god and talk like a god and you do it so completely the universe can't tell the difference, then you are the god. It's how you fulfill prophesies. You just gotta fulfill its requirements hard enough that fate thinks it's about you.
Dreaming is like an intelligent brute-force algorithm. Sometimes it searches for what it seeks and goes right to it, sometimes it goes through everything else in the most meandering order, but every dream gets to its point. That is the nature of dream.
