I have to do workarounds with the travel people whenever work sends me there because their policy is that con badge costs can only be paid via their credit card. And defcon doesn't accept credit cards. Only cash.

As long as something is kept at roughly boiling temperature, it can be bacteria- and mold-free basically forever. It really doesn't matter if it's 'fresh'. People used to have what they called 'perpetual stews', which was just a pot hung over a fire and kept boiling continuously for weeks or even months at a time. They'd basically just toss their leftovers in there to be eaten later, and you didn't get sick from it because it's always hot.
